Moissanite is a rare gemstone originally discovered in a meteorite crater in 1893 by French chemist Henri Moissan. Natural moissanite is extraordinarily rare, so the moissanite used in fine jewelry today is grown in controlled laboratory environments. The result is a gemstone of exceptional brilliance, hardness, and optical beauty — without the ethical concerns associated with mined stones. At Aurevyn Paris, every moissanite stone is hand-selected and IGI-certified under our Aurevyn Gems™ standard.

Moissanite and diamond are visually very similar, but moissanite has its own distinct advantages. It rates 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale — second only to diamond at 10 — making it exceptionally durable for everyday wear. Moissanite also has a higher refractive index than diamond, meaning it produces more brilliance and fire. At a fraction of the price of a natural diamond, moissanite offers uncompromising beauty with greater accessibility and zero mining impact.

Cubic Zirconia (CZ) and moissanite are often confused, but they are very different stones. CZ is a synthetic zirconium oxide that is soft, prone to scratching, and tends to cloud and dull over time. Moissanite is a silicon carbide compound with a hardness of 9.25, significantly greater brilliance, and the ability to maintain its clarity and sparkle for a lifetime. Moissanite is a premium gemstone — CZ is not.

Yes. All moissanite used in Aurevyn Paris jewelry is produced under strict laboratory conditions and independently certified by IGI (International Gemological Institute). Each stone is evaluated for cut, colour, clarity, and carat weight before being approved under our Aurevyn Gems™ standard. Only stones that meet our criteria for brilliance and consistency are selected for our pieces.

Moissanite is extremely low-maintenance. To keep your stone looking its best:

• Clean occasionally with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush
• Store in a soft pouch or box when not wearing
• Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh chemicals, chlorine, and abrasive surfaces
• Remove before swimming, heavy workouts, or applying lotions and perfumes

Moissanite will not cloud or dull over time — a gentle clean is all it needs to restore its full brilliance.

Moissanite is lab-grown. While naturally occurring moissanite does exist — first found in a meteorite — it is so rare that it is virtually impossible to source in gem-quality quantities. The moissanite used in all fine jewelry, including Aurevyn Paris, is created in a laboratory using advanced thermal growing processes that replicate the conditions under which natural moissanite forms. Lab-grown does not mean lesser — it means conflict-free, traceable, and consistent in quality.

Daily exposure to moisture, friction, and chemicals can gradually affect the finish over time. This is a natural characteristic of plated jewelry, not a defect.

Because each piece is made to order, we are unable to accept returns or cancellations once production has begun.

Non-custom items may be returned within 30 days if unused and in original condition. All returns must be approved before shipping. Please contact us at hello@aurevynparis.com to initiate a return.

Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos or a short video of the issue. If approved, we will offer a replacement or store credit.

Yes. Aurevyn Paris offers a 30-day warranty covering manufacturing defects. This does not cover normal wear, accidental damage, or improper use.
